Registration health check
A scheduled read of your registration pace against your target, taken about a month before the event. The benchmark is 40 to 50 percent of expected registrations by that point, counted without sponsors, speakers, organizers and volunteers, since comped seats flatter the number without filling the room. Sitting under it does not mean cutting your cap. It means pulling convert phase promotion work forward while there is still runway to spend. A late spike in the final two weeks is normal and expected, so the check is a steering signal rather than a verdict. The label is this course’s, the number is not.
Source: The DevOpsDays Organizing Guide, which poses it as a question organizers should ask themselves: “Did we hit about 40-50% of expected ticket sales minus sponsors, speakers, organizers, and volunteers by a month or so out?” and notes that late announcements or skipped emails typically leave you nearer 25 to 30 percent. The same section confirms that a spike in the last two weeks before an event is now normal (devopsdays.org/organizing). “Registration health check” is the course’s own label for that check.
